Bird watching

Raasay is home to more than 60 species of bird. On the shore, in the woodland and on the open moors, you will be able to spot Raasay residents,  summer and winter visitors: waders, divers, dippers, guillemots and gulls, from the tiny pied flycatcher to the tall and stately heron. And, unlike their northern cousins, the magnificent golden eagles and majestic sea eagles don’t migrate.

Of course, knowing where to find these birds and identifying them when you do, requires experience and skill.
