Indoor/evening activities
One of Raasay’s best kept secrets is the long summer evenings – it’s light long after normal bedtime. To make the most of them, we offer a range of activities to be enjoyed after supper. There’s beach art and sculpture at North Bay - a way for children to learn about the environment and sea life in a creative and fun way.
That’s sometimes accompanied by a sausage sizzle and bonfire.
There’s shelter building in the woods behind the house; exploring the sights and sounds of the forest after sunset; a wee bimble around the grounds visiting the Pictish Stone, St Moluag’s Chapel, and the 2000 year old Cave of Oars.
And that’s not to mention treasure hunts, tug-o-wars, rounders or even a mini Highland games.
Indoors, there’s also plenty to keep you entertained. Comfy sofas, open fires and wood-burning stoves are the perfect accompaniment to traditional board and card games. And of course there are also regular dances, ceilidhs, drama performances, art and musical evenings. There’s something for everyone.
