Re-capping 2009
The fire at Raasay House, in January last year, meant a relocation to the old Isle of Raasay Hotel. Situated, next to the grounds of Raasay House, the hotel offered great accommodation, a café and restaurant, and whilst not on the same scale as Raasay House, has some magnificent views.
By April we had required the hotel lease. We were back in business and able to offer excellent en suite accommodation, establish a new Café, run the Restaurant and Bar and were well equipped for all the excellent activities that we traditionally provided at Raasay House.
Last year we ran outdoor education courses and multi-activity holidays for all our existing Raasay House Clients and some new school and youth groups. We provided holidays for families, individuals and hotel guests, plus information, guided walks and tours and activities for day visitors. We added some new activities: mountain bike hire, tuition and guided trail rides, and also opened a new facility: the ARC (activity resource centre). The ARC, situated in the grounds at the north drive of Raasay House, houses an office, equipment stores and some excellent showers. As the ARC’s location is next to the existing camp site which enhances that facility for all those groups and individuals who like to spend time in tents!
We were open to Hotel guests during the Winter and at New Year periods and will continue to be open for the Spring and Summer seasons this year. We have introduced some brand new courses. You’ll find all the details on the news & offers page on our website: www.raasay-house.co.uk

Raasay House rebuild
The design stage for the rebuild of Raasay House and the demolition work, necessitated by the fire, is now complete.
Work , on rebuilding, will start in April. The end result will be a new steel framed building erected inside the beautiful old stone walls. The big downstairs rooms, with open fires, large windows and fabulous views will be back, second and third floor bedrooms positioned much the same as before. The estimated completion date is autumn 2011, so watch for a date for the grand opening, timed for spring 2012.
Thanks yet again to all those who have sent messages of support during the last difficult year.

WE LOOK FORWARD TO WELCOMING YOU BACK TO RAASAY SOON.
