As you can see Raasay is under a covering of snow, however, it is very beautiful as usual!

Clare swims to Skye from Raasay!!

Posted by: Raasay House Posted Date: 03/09/2010

Very well done to our own Clare Marshall who set a new personal best and a challenge to all keen open water swimmers this week.

The outdoor instructor from the Raasay House Outdoor Activities Centre decided to ring in the new month by swimming the Sound of Raasay over to Skye on Wednesday the 1st of September.

Along with companion and keen open water swimmer Roy Armstrong, Clare had reached the coast of Skye after only being in the water an impressive 20 minutes and had returned safe and sound back on Raasay after only 55 minutes in total.

A very respectable time for this icey stretch of water. Clare and Roy both hailing from Glasgow, thoroughly enjoyed the swim and rounded off the evening with a well deserved meal and celebratory dram in the Raasay House Hotel.

New website up and running

Posted by: Raasay House Posted Date: 18/06/2009

You may have seen in the press that in the early hours of Sunday January 18th Raasay House suffered a terrible fire. Most of the inside of the house was destroyed. All that's left are the external walls and the west wing. Fortunately no one was hurt.

It's devastating for us and for the whole island. This is more than just a building, it's part of the community, and we all feel a great sense of personal loss. It's especially upsetting as we were only weeks away from finishing an eighteen month long refurbishment project.

However, what's come out of this tragedy is a real sense of determination to rebuild, to save our beautiful house and re-launch the business.

It's going to take a while to rebuild the house but in the meantime we're going to  to continue to offer outdoor activity holidays from the island's hotel, Borodale House. See News and Offers for more details on that as well as information on how you can contribute to the Phoenix Fund to safeguard the future of Raasay House. Part of our major re-launch in February 2009 was a brand new website and corporate identity. We're very excited and proud of the huge amount of work that's been done so we decided to launch the site anyway so that you can see what we'll be offering when we eventually reopen. We hope you like it.

Please keep in touch over the coming months – our blog will have regular updates on the project and the fundraising. With your support and help we can make sure that the magical experience Raasay House offers its visitors continues for many years to come.

Please click here to be taken back to the new website home page.
