Traditional sailing
Take advantage of some of the best sailing conditions in Europe, and learn traditional sailing techniques aboard Raasay House’s classic wooden boat – Oigh Niseach, a dipping Lug Sgoth built to traditional lines on the Isle of Lewis.

These distinctive wooden hulled boats originated in Norway and were brought to Scotland by the Vikings. Once a common sight on the west coast, Oigh Niseach is now one of only three original Sgoths still sailing.

A trip around the coast of Raasay in Oigh Niseach, exploring the inlets and getting up close to the bird and sealife (basking sharks, minke whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals, otters, and cormorants) is a unique Raasay experience, not to be missed.
