Details
Hours are usually over 5 or 6 six day, statutory holidays,
Room in shared cottage or wood cabin (pod) opportunity to join Sailing, Climbing, Kayaking, Canoeing, Archery & Coasteering.

Start dates between February and May through to the end of October/November with the possibility of permanent positions.

Key Info

Raasay House Restaurant : we do about 100 – 125 covers in the evening in the summer and about 80 to a 100 covers during the day

During the day in the spring/summer the numbers can expand greatly as we have a lot of outside seating. There is a new distillery just opened next door so we expect to have an even busier daytime service this year.

Food
Our food is Scottish with our own twist. We use the best in local produce and our menu is freshly prepared, delicious and varied, with dishes from local scallops and Raasay venison to good old fish & chips!

The Job:
The chef will assist the head chef and 2nd chef in prepping and serving high quality food as well as ensuring all paperwork and kitchen logs are completed and that high kitchen hygiene standards are maintained at all times.

The Person:
You will be an experienced, friendly, fast and enthusiastic chef. You will be confident in running service on the head chefs days off. You will be a team player who has a genuine love of food and strives for excellence in your cooking. You present yourself well, have excellent communication skills, a can do attitude and a good sense of humour.

Hotel Breakfast Chef

The Person:
You will be an experienced, friendly, fast and enthusiastic breakfast chef. You will be confident in running breakfast service.

You present yourself well, have excellent communication skills, a “can do” attitude and a good sense of humour.

You are are a reliable, punctual morning person who organises yourself well and works quickly.

Minimum of 1 year as a breakfast chef

​The Job

  • Getting menu shortages, specials etc from kitchen at start of shift and notifying other waiting staff.
  • Know the menu – If you don’t know about a dish then you need to ask. You need to know the menu to be able to sell it.
  • Typing up specials and checking EPOS for errors at beginning of shift. (eg pricing, shortages etc)
  • Keep the Front of House areas clean and tidy.
  • Make sure that appropriate music is playing at all times when customers are there.
  • Ensuring good Hygiene and Health and Safety within your service area.
  • Creating an efficient yet relaxing experience for our customers.
  • Taking orders.
  • Delivering food
  • Taking cash payments.
  • To ensure your appearance is according to company policy.
  • To handle cash and responsibly and according to company policy.
  • To have clear working knowledge of all company policies and operate within them at all times

Duties include welcoming guests, check in, check out, making sure all the proper paperwork is filled out. Ensuring that our guests feel welcome and very well looked after.  Making sure that payments balance with the guest bills. Checking special requests from guests and checking room suitability before guests arrive. Taking dinner reservations and generally being the hub of all information.

The Person:
You will be friendly, smiley, caring, enthusiastic and outgoing person. You are an ‘on the ball’, well presented, tidy and organised individual who manages your time well who is ready to think on your feet. You are key in looking after our (sometimes road weary) travellers to help them feel at home.

Hotel Bar Person

We are looking for an outgoing, friendly and trustworthy Hotel Bar Person who will take excellent care of our various clientele.

Start Date
February 2019

The Job:

As the Primary Hotel Bar Person you will take the lead in the day-to-day bar service as well being responsible for the the overall cleanliness of the bar, making sure that stock levels are maintained and that licensing laws are followed. You will be responsible for cashing up tills and following up on any discrepancies at the end of the day. You will be required to assist the waiting team with running drinks and sometimes food. You will also assist the management in maximising sales in the food and beverage department.

The Person:

You will be friendly, fast and enthusiastic behind the hotel bar. You are an ‘on the ball’ individual who manages your time well and takes pride in keeping a clean, well stocked and welcoming bar. You will at least 1 season of experience in a similar Hotel/Bar Person role.

Kitchen Porter/Kitchen Assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic Kitchen Porter, with the flexibility to assist our chefs when required, in delivering a fabulous dining experience.

The Job:
As the Primary Kitchen Porter you will take the lead in the day-to-day dish washing and the weekly, fortnightly and monthly deep cleaning of food prep and pot wash areas. You will be supporting the chef team and may be asked to assist in various ways in the kitchen depending on your experience and aptitude for the tasks.
